A duo from Los Angeles and Montreal, they exist in a cool, Sonic Youth cult of living on riffs and cigarettes. “No Summer” is a detached dirge, with whispered vocals, that sounds like they are secret somnambulists who have woken up to the power of rock. The self titled "No Joy" is a revelation. It shreds. It will shred you. And will make you remember a time when the electric guitar felt like it could have taken over the world. Ghosts of SST, early Sub Pop and even AmRep linger around these songs while never compromising No Joy's brutal/beautiful dynamic. All sorts of awesome.
